Hi, I’m Rebecca-Monique – an ICF accredited coach and coach supervisor – and these are my passing thoughts.
This is the 99th episode. In tribute to famous Jay Z lyrics, it feels like an opportune time to say I’ve got 99 problems but reflection ain’t one.
The thing with problems is, if we look for them, we’ll find them, and plenty.
When our confirmation bias kicks in, we identify whatever supports the perspective we want to believe.
If prolonged, victimhood and disempowerment become caked into our identity
It becomes easy to adopt a nihilistic and pessimistic view of ourselves, others and the world.
But...
We can choose realism with a healthy dose of optimism
We can lean into the more pleasing, satisfying thought
We can embrace empowerment
We can orient to the opposite view
We can see problems as puzzles
We can practise gratitude
We can seek opportunities for growth
My question for you this week is:
What’s going right?
Speak to you next week, until then, be well.
